Dibanet project The increasing reliance on imported diesel fuels, in addition to annual increases in the quantities of organic wastes are threats to the EU and Latin America. DIBANET (Development of Integrated Biomass Approaches Network) aims to combat these threats and help to eliminate diesel imports by developing novel technologies to produce sustainable diesel miscible biofuels (DMBs) from wastes and residues of Europe and Latin America.
Ecowill project The ECOWILL project, launched in May 2010, aims at reducing carbon emission by up to 8 Mt until 2015 by boosting the application of eco-driving across Europe. To reach such an ambitious target the project will roll out short duration eco-driving training programs for licensed drivers in 13 European countries. At the same time, ECOWILL promotes the education of eco-driving for learner drivers.
Green Driving We all like to think we're good drivers. But are you smart as well? By making some simple changes to the way you drive, you could reduce the fuel you use and also save money. This is called smarter driving and involves using your gears, acceleration and powers of anticipation to adopt a more fuel-efficient driving style. As well as reducing your fuel consumption, it's safer too.
Clean Vehicle Portal The Clean Vehicle Portal as a web-database aims to ensure a level of demand for clean and energy-efficient road transport vehicles and encourage manufacturers to invest in development of vehicles with low energy consumption, CO2 emissions and pollutant emissions.
DG TREN's Cleen vehicles directive webpage The Directive on the Promotion of Clean and Energy Efficient Road Transport Vehicles aims at a broad market introduction of environmentally-friendly vehicles. It requires that energy and environmental impacts linked to the operation of vehicles over their whole lifetime are taken into account in all purchases of road transport vehicles, as covered by the public procurement Directives and the public service Regulation. If the impacts are monetised for inclusion in the purchasing decision, common rules shall be followed for calculating the lifetime costs linked to the operation of vehicles. These rules are defined in the Directive.
ManagEnergy ManagEnergy is a technical support initiative of the Intelligent Energy - Europe (IEE) programme of the European Commission which aims to assist actors from the public sector and their advisers working on energy efficiency and renewable energies at the local and regional level.
DG RTD The key objectives of the European energy research policy are to promote sustainable development, to ensure security and diversity of energy supply, to improve energy efficiency and to increase industrial competitiveness. To reach these objectives, the European Commission has defined, in the so called European Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET-Plan),
CORDIS (Community Research and Development Information Service )
Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign The Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign is a European Commission initiative in the framework of the Intelligent Energy - Europe programme, which aims to raise public awareness and promote sustainable energy production and use among individuals and organisations, private companies and public authorities, professional and energy agencies, industry associations and NGOs across Europe.
Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP) With small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as its main target, the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP) supports innovation activities (including eco-innovation), provides better access to finance and delivers business support services in the regions.
European Biofuels Technology Platform The European Union is strongly dependent on fossil fuels for its transport needs and is a net importer of crude oil. At the same time, concerns are increasing about climate change and the potential economic and political impact of peak oil production. To address these issues and reduce its dependency on fossil fuels the EU has adopted measures to encourage the production and use of sustainable biofuels.
Biofuel Cities Welcome to biofuel-cities.eu - your one-stop-shop for information and exchange on the broadscale application of liquid and gaseous biofuels. Click through the site to discover a Europe-wide directory on biofuel projects and activities; learn of interesting news on biofuels activities and past events; access our biofuels resource centre, containing information on policy, legislation, technology, and more. The Partnership provided tools to connect to key biofuel actors through online facilities that offer twinning, project co-operation and networking opportunities, as well as tools for biofuel project assessment.
Fleet Europe
EUR LEX EUR-Lex provides free access to European Union law and other documents considered to be public. The website is available in 23 official languages of the European Union. The contents of the site amount to some 2 815 000 documents with texts dating back to 1951. The database is updated daily and every year around 12 000 documents are added.
DG TREN Well-functioning passenger and freight links are vital for European undertakings and citizens. EU transport policies aim at fostering clean, safe and efficient travel throughout Europe, underpinning the internal market of goods and the right of citizens to travel freely throughout the EU.
Intelligent Energy Europe There are many untapped opportunities to save energy and encourage the use of renewable energy sources in Europe, but market conditions do not always help. The Intelligent Energy - Europe programme is the EU's tool for funding action to improve these conditions and move us towards a more energy intelligent Europe.
European RECODRIVE project RECODRIVE (“Rewarding and Recognition Schemes for Energy Conserving Driving, Vehicle procurement and maintenance”) is a project aiming at merging existing ecodriving initiatives with good fleet management and logistics optimization practice to push fuel saving in fleets beyond 10%.
